Why is this important?
The main role of a Veterinary Nurse is to provide care and comfort for all animals. Kennel maintenance training provides Veterinary Nurses with knowledge of everyday animal care, general cleaning, exercising patients and boarders, medicating animals and the importance of record keeping.
Regardless if in a role of Kennel Attendant or Veterinary Nurse you will be providing everyday care for all animals. This starts with basic patient / boarder exercising and kennel cleaning.
Each hospital has a standard of care they follow and procedures for carrying out these standards within the processes of that hospital. Factors hospitals consider are: the amount of kennels available, exercise runs available, providing medication, cleaning products and available equipment to perform daily routines.
This guide will provide you with basic skill processes that will be required of a Veterinary Nurse when caring for a patient / boarder.
